Your Output Tells the Story

Hello my name is Fatima, I'm currently studying for the Associates of Business at the College of Southern Nevada. I took a leap year right after high school to figure out what I wanted to study. My first impression of IS101 is that there's a lot of skills that are useful in everyday life especially if you're working in an office job. There's not a lot of people who know how to use Microsoft software, it's a skill that can benefit me and can help me stand out in the workforce.

For Discussion 2 Part 2, I chose 2.5.11 Window User Account, it lets different people use the same computer while keeping their own files, settings and privacy. Each user signs in with their own account and password. People on a daily basis use the same computer. For example, the CSN library provides computers to students who need access to their assignments,  student center, etc... It makes it more efficient.

Overall, I'm excited to learn more about Microsoft and use these skills in my day to day life.

  2. Hi Fatima, I think we met during orientation and you offered to help me with this class. I agree with you that Microsoft skills are important, especially in office settings. What I have noticed though is that Microsoft keeps updating everything from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and the interface keeps changing. I was comfortable with Windows 10, and now I have to adjust again. I wonder how these updates affect shared user accounts in places like the CSN library or offices. If the system changes, everyone has to relearn where things are. Even in the office, they are already using newer versions, so older systems start to feel outdated. It feels repetitive sometimes, but I guess adapting is part of working with technology.

  3. Hello Fatima, my mother shares the same name as you, only hers is spelled Fatimah. I share the same journey I am also going to school for my Associates of Business degree. I agree with you that having Microsoft skills is very beneficial, utilizing the software properly can really make your job easier. I really enjoyed learning how to make flyers that simulation was pretty awesome. I wish you the very best on your journey.

  4. Hi Fatima, I think taking a year for yourself to get to know yourself better is something that would be good for everyone, and I’m really glad this country offers that possibility. I also agree with you about IS101. Many people use computers every day, but not everyone really knows how to use tools like Microsoft programs properly. Learning these skills can definitely help us stand out. Your topic about Windows user accounts is interesting because we see it in places like libraries or shared computers, and it helps keep everyone’s files private and organized.

  5. Hello Fatima, having Microsoft skills will definitely help you stand out to employers. I'm also pretty excited to learn these skills. The example you gave with the library computers being used by multiple students was great. I never really delved too deep into multiple users on a computer because I've only ever used a family computer with one shared account, or just used my own by the time I was able to get one. But I think these accounts are a great way to separate the different kinds of layouts people using the computer prefer.

  6. Hey Fatima! Business is always a solid choice, especially from a networking perspective, I have no doubt you'll see it through, I took a bit of a gap as well, and I'm glad to be back to focusing on my studies.
2.5.11 is a great topic, having multiple accounts on one pc is amazing especially on a shared on!
    Take care!

  7. Hi Fatima! I also had a hard time deciding what career to pursue since it’s not an easy decision. I agree with you that this class teaches many skills that are useful in everyday life, especially if you work in an office. I also like that CSN provides resources like computers for students when they need them—it really makes things more convenient.

  8. Fatima, understanding how to make a separate account for someone on a computer is good to know. This way, they have no chance of seeing the personal information of the person whose computer is borrowed.

  9. Fatima, your gap year transition into an Associates of Business program at CSN shows a strategic way to approach your education. A big part of your strategy was realizing that by mastering Microsoft software and user account management in Windows will give you a distinct competitive edge when it comes time to enter today's professional workforce.

  10. Getting back into the groove of things after taking a leap year could be challenging when coming back, considering too college courses are very different from high school classes. Deciding on what degree to get is another and I relate to that heavily. More power to your journey!

  12. Hey Fatima, sometimes all we need is a year to chill out and hag, get our priorities straight and just have some peace and quiet after finishing high school, I did this too and took another year break between 2022 and now. Yeah a lot of people don't know how to use Microsoft which helps us get a leg up against competition wherever it may be but it is useful to have multiple accounts on a computer if theres more than 1 user on a device, I definitely am selfish and like sharing tee hee lol. Thanks for sharing this because regardless of this being possible, I won't even let my family add an account on my pc, it'll snowball and it's kind of like letting a friend sleepover once and then they keep a toothbrush at your place and watch it escalate...

  14. Hi Fatima, using the Windows user accounts are so useful for doing school work. Without it I probably won't even be able to print any papers at the library at CSN. Was the gap year worth it? I thought about doing it but decided against it. Good luck with college!

  16. Hello Fatima, taking a leap year sounds great especially if you want to be sure of what you really want to do and will enjoy to do as a career. It is something you would do for the rest of your life after all if you decide to stick with it after graduating. Not rushing your decisions is a smart move! :)
